Summary: Momento does not collect, sell or share your personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and everything you enter stays on your device.
1. Who we are
Momento is published by AppJoy e.U., Austria, which is the controller for the purposes of the GDPR. Contact: hello@appjoy.at.
2. What Momento stores on your device
To work, the app keeps the following information locally on your phone. We never receive it.
- Your selection of apps to lock. On iOS this is an opaque selection handled by Apple's Screen Time framework, so we can't see which apps you chose or read their contents. On Android it is a list of app package names.
- Sessions and reasons: the reason you give when opening an app, the planned and actual duration, and timestamps. These power your statistics.
- Settings and onboarding answers, such as your estimate of daily phone time.
You can delete this data at any time by deleting the app.
3. Permissions we use

| Accessibility service (Android) | To detect which app is in the foreground so Momento can show its prompt over a locked app. It does not read screen content, keystrokes or messages, and the information is not stored or transmitted. |
| Notifications | To tell you when your unlocked time has ended. Notifications are generated on your device. |
| Microphone and speech recognition (iOS, optional) | Only if you tap Transcribe to speak your reason. Where your device supports it, transcription runs on the device. Otherwise Apple's speech recognition service may process the audio under Apple's privacy policy. Momento does not save the audio. |
4. What we don't do
- No accounts, logins or user profiles.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs, and no tracking across apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties.
- The Android app does not request the internet permission and cannot send data anywhere.
5. Subscriptions
If you subscribe, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). They handle your payment details and may share limited purchase status with the app so it can unlock features. We never see your card or payment information. Their privacy policies apply to that processing.
6. This website
momento.appjoy.at is a static website. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or third-party scripts. Our server may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page) for a short period for security and operation. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
7. Children
Momento is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is usually nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. If you believe we do hold something, such as an email you sent us, you have the right under the GDPR to access, correct, delete or restrict it, to object to its processing, and to data portability. Write to hello@appjoy.at. You may also complain to the Austrian data protection authority (dsb.gv.at).
9. Changes
If we change how Momento handles data, for example by adding a feature that needs a server, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
